The Strawweight title went up for grabs on Monday 4th September between these two 4' 10" fighters, and different tactics were soon in evidence. Martinez clinched in an effort to wear Tornado down, whilst Tornado tried to out-point his opponent by using the ring. It was close stuff as both fighters seemed to tire at the same rate, and the commentator's favour swung back and forth. Slowly but surely however Tornado's occasional tactic of upping his punch count began to tell. Towards the end of the fight Martinez switched to the inside as Tornado consistently threw 50+ punches to make sure of the fight. At the end, Martinez was slowing down, but it was the exhausted Tornado who got the nod from the judges.
Chris 'Tornado' Camicia defeated Crusher Martinez by unanimous decision: 116-112, 117-114, 117-113My very own vampire went into this fight seeking revenge against Ritblat who beat him for the title a couple of weeks back. Ritblat once again pulled back early on and then went for the points victory using the ring and counter-punching. Naidon assaulted his opponent with a mixture of all-out and inside assaults, which succeeded in wearing Ritblat down. Sadly though Ritblat was still winning the rounds and easily got the decision.
Conrad Ritblat defeated Naidon by unanimous decision: 115-113, 116-112, 116-112Playing TBG is very much like... Ahem, enough of that, this fight took place between these two fighters with Swiss Tony the favourite. Both fighters used the ring and seemed to try and out-point one another but it was Swiss Tony who dominated, landing more punches and winning more rounds. More trouble for Fly With The Bird
Swiss Tony defeated Fly With The Bird by unanimous decision: 117-111, 117-111, 117-111The worrying Camp David recovered from last week's 11th Round KO to claim his first victory in a very short fight. Umtata went inside in contrast to David's outside tactics, but a bite to the ear meant an early end to proceedings. The referee's real worry however was David's pink description page.
Camp David defeated Umtata by disqualification in round 1A matchup which saw high punch counts as both fighters went for the decision. ENIGMA, the shorter fighter feinted and faked, whilst The Animal used around the ring. The pair seemed to respond to each other throughout, but according to the commentators, The Animal had it. The judges however had other ideas and two decided that they couldn't separate the fighters. They'll just have to fight it out again next week, both in the Press and in the Ring.
ENIGMA and Carlos "The Animal" fought to a majority decision draw: 114-114, 114-116, 115-115Baron Spell's veteran fighter Jordan faced off against the undefeated Elf Merkaydia, another representative of the crop of fantasy-based fighters from Mac Loaf. Jordan went immediately for the decision, throwing approximately 60 punches whilst using the ring. Merkaydia soon reverted to true Mac Loaf slugger form with an all-out offensive. Jordan began to wear down, pulling ahead and then closing up. Merkaydia couldn't land the killer blow as Jordan proved that those 15 previous wins didn't come by chance. By the end of the fight Jordan was obviously tired, whilst Merkaydia remained standing whilst being wiped down, but it was Jordan "Corr" Blimey with the 115-113 decision. Revenge perhaps for Jordan for the defeats against Merkaydia's gym mate, Mac Loaf's Pet Monster.
Jordan "Corr" Blimey defeated Merkaydia by unanimous decision: 115-113, 115-113, 115-113Umfolozi went inside against the counter-punching Joyce, and dominated the first and only round of the bout. Soon after Joyce went down for a count of Seven, a decisive right hook sent Dom Joyce down for the Ten count. Let's just hope Joyce's fractured nose heals before his next fight.
Umfolozi defeated Dom Joyce by knockout (KO) in round 1Tuskadero was out to reclaim the Bantamweight belt in this battle of the midget sluggers. After a start which saw both fighters clinch, Ali was tiring faster. Tuskadero moved inside for the kill and soon it was all over. Mission accomplished for Mr Benn's fighter. Grievesie has a chance for revenge this week though with Sonny Lisper's challenge.
Leather Tuskadero knocked out Lil "booyakasha" Ali in round 5Reeves clinched against Joyce's counter-punching in this four-round battle and The Destroyer lived up to his name. Despite switching to the ring after the first two rounds, Reeves had his opponent in all sorts of trouble and Donna had to endure a standing eight count as well as a knockdown. The referee had no choice but to stop the fight seconds into Round 4 as Joyce was beaten into retirement. That's got to hurt.
Bob 'The Destroyer' Reeves defeated Donna Joyce by TKO in round 4.No title fight for Super_Griffin's Dave 'Pretty Boy' Jackson this week so this was the top fight in the division. The Look has a superb record in Regional Title fights and is obviously keen to set up a rematch with the 'Pretty Boy'. Tabler moved around the ring to try and out-score Ramirez, but wore faster than his opponent who switched from the clinch to attack inside. Come round 6 and Tabler moves inside - a bad move against a slugger with 20 of his previous 23 wins coming from KO. Nathan Tabler suffered the consequences as he went down for the Ten count.
Suave "The Look" Ramirez knocked out Nathan Tabler in round 6We all love Del Boy off the Telly don't we? Chobe certainly doesn't, and showed it during this fight. Derek tried to use his agility to cut off the ring, but Chobe came right back inside. It was Derek who faded faster, and hit the canvas twice during Round 7. There was no way back, but surely the all-out to finish him off in Round 9 just added insult to Injury Points.
Chobe knocked out Dancing Derek Trotter in round 9GingerBadger's new fighter here fought a fighter from the master of press poetry, the manager of 1000 names. There was a vast difference in height between the two, with Money towering over Shatterer at 6 foot to 4' 10". Money used this advantage well, dancing around the ring to out-point Shatterer who was struggling to get near his opponent to land any blows. Money pulled out a lead and maintained it. A late all-out by Shatterer brought sudden knockdowns for both fighters and a late treat for the crowd. At the judges' decision It's only money shattered the Dream Shatterer's dreams of victory.
Its only money defeated The Dream Shatterer by unanimous decision: 115-113, 115-113, 115-113With the Olympics only around the corner it's fitting that we have a Sydney 200 hopeful, even if he is sadly restricted to TBG. Mobster tried to counter-punch his way to a decision as Hopeful pounded away. Things seemed to be going well for the Mobster with a lead building until suddenly in Round 9 Hopeful exploded becoming a raging bull with an all-out assault. Mobster seemed to be rattled by this as he changed tactic for Round 10 by going outside against the all-out-ing Hopeful. Despite landing Hopeful down for a Nine count, Mobster soon found a punch he couldn't refuse and finally hit canvas.
Sydney 2000 hopeful knocked out Mobster in round 10The second of Mac Loaf's Elven brothers had a far better start to his career than Merkaydia. Four straight wins, four by KO had taken Calindor to the Regional title. However, he was up against Karl, who was proving to be a jinx for Mac Loaf sluggers having defeated them on three previous occasions. An interesting match-up began with both fighters clinching but soon Calindor switched to the inside. The Elf must have been relieved to see the Dark Warrior fade faster than him, and somehow Calindor seemed to be throwing and landing more punches. Oddly the bout then fizzled out, as Calindor took an unusual step for a Mac Loaf slugger, and decided to pull back and take the decision victory. Vilhelm with his broken nose by the end of the fight must have been disappointed, but also confused as to his opponent's reticence to go for the kill. The Calindor corner however just seemed happy to have retained the title.
Calindor defeated Karl 'Villain' Vilhelm by unanimous decision: 119-108, 119-108, 119-108Fireworks greeted the first round in this contest as Vieira's attempts to cut of the ring were greeted by Elvis clinching and a knockdown. However, Elvis was fading faster than Paddy, and at the end of Round 5 was collapsing limply enough that Paddy felt inspired to throw everything in an all-out assault. It was all over very quickly. Paddy Vieira now gets another chance to end title-holder Calindor's unbeaten run.
Patrick 'Paddy' Vieira knocked out If Elvis was alive he would still be eating burgers in round 6The Ginger Ninja took on a fighter from GingerBadger in this encounter. Bloodvessel took to counter-punching as Ninja began fighting inside. Round 3 though saw Ninja surprise everyone including Bloodvessel by going all-out. He scored a knockdown, and then continued with the same tactics. Sadly the damage being dealt by Bloodvessel began to tell and in Round 8 the Ginger Ninja was knocked out.
Buster Bloodvessel knocked out Sam 'Ginger Ninja' Rogers in round 8An interesting bout here as the shorter Lesley initially tried to use the ring against the backpeddaling Doonagin. Doonigan easily won the early rounds and Lesley switched to the clinch, but later moved back to the ring. Doonagin was tiring fast however, but still maintained a large lead. Going into the final round Lesley's expected all-out came and Faal Doonagin couldn't last out.
Conna Lesley knocked out Faal Doonagin in round 12
